Andrea Hodgson

Staff Attorney

Andrea is a staff attorney who uses her legal expertise to serve clients across all our issue areas. She aims to make each client feel heard and supported. Andrea enjoys helping the elder community in Contra Costa County.

Anna Mickelson

Anna Mickelson

Communications Associate

Anna is our Communications Associate. She drafts our social media posts across all our different channels. She also contributes to all of our communications projects.

Tina Nickle

Christina Nickle

Intake Specialist

Tina is one of our Intake Specialists responsible for taking client calls, conducting intakes, scheduling appointments for our office attorneys and for our free senior center clinics and makes referrals as needed. Tina also notarizes official legal documents for many clients. She is a senior herself and brings compassion and understanding when serving our clients.

Emily Milstein

Staff Attorney

Emily is an Attorney in charge of our elder abuse practice. She handles elder abuse cases, conducts trainings on elder abuse and elder financial abuse, and writes content for our website. Emily also helps provides support and training to several of our Pro Bono Attorneys who help at our free legal clinics.

Katie Kelly

IT Specialist & Special Assignments

Katie is responsible for all of our technological systems including client case management, our donor database, and our communications systems. She is instrumental to our grant reporting process helping with data maintenance and reporting. Working on additional projects as assigned, Katie makes all the projects she is a part of easier and more enjoyable.

Lenore Soto

Intake Specialist

Lenore is an Intake Specialist who handles all kinds of clients’ inquiries and refers folks to appropriate services as needed. Bi-lingual in Spanish, she uses her language skills to speak with many of our monolingual clients. She also tackles various administrative projects for the office and helps with our outreach efforts around the county.

Lisa Landry

Intake Supervisor

Lisa is our Intake Supervisor who manages our Intake staff. She takes client calls and handles inquiries to and from various partner agencies. Lisa is also the point of contact for all of our in-office volunteers.

Maria Ramirez

Maria Ramirez

Legal Intern

Maria is our Legal Intern. She supports the legal team in all types of legal proceedings and helps oversee the smooth operations of our 12+ free monthly clinics. Originally from Colombia, Maria is bi-lingual and connects with our community partners to ensure we are delivering legal services out in the community to older adults in need.

Matthew Hulse

Executive Director

Matthew Hulse is our Executive Director and brings years of non-profit experience and a passion for our mission to his role. Matt loves caring communities, strong systems, and clear communication in his work. Matt is a fan of meeting people and collaborating, so reach out by email!

Michael Reiser

Staff Attorney

Michael is a Staff Attorney who uses his legal expertise to serve clients across all our issue areas. A patient advocate for older adults, Michael enjoys thinking creatively with the law to help prevent evictions and keep seniors housed. As a lifelong East Bay resident, Michael enjoys connecting with elders in his home county of Contra Costa.

Phyl van Ammers

Staff Attorney

Phyl is a Staff Attorney who focuses primarily on housing cases. She possesses a multi-disciplinary background including Urban Planning, Teaching, and the Law, which all inform her legal practice. Drawing on her broad experience, Phyl welcomes the opportunity to serve Contra Costa County elders.

Education and Outreach Coordinator

Prasumi is our Education and Outreach Coordinator committed to enhancing the well-being of seniors. Prasumi began working at CCSLS as a Summer Intern and so enjoyed her work that she continues to serve the organization. In her current role, she enjoys building relationships and coordinating educational presentations that provide valuable resources tailored to seniors’ needs.

Robin Courtney

Staff Attorney

Robin is a Staff Attorney who is a zealous advocate for her clients in housing matters to promote housing stability and prevent homelessness.  She also helps seniors obtain orders of protection in elder abuse cases.  As a notary she is uniquely qualified to help seniors complete incapacity planning documents and execute those documents as well.

Susanne Revutsky

Director of Development and Special Projects

As Director of Development and Special Projects, Susanne uses her experience in philanthropy, consulting, and aging to help CCSLS increase and diversify its revenue. In addition to fundraising, Susanne contributes to projects that strengthen the organization overall. In particular, she helps with Communications, Program Evaluation, and Organizational Development.

Director of Legal Services

As the Director of Legal Services, Victoria is a passionate, experienced advocate for our older adult clients. She oversees all legal services by managing our Staff Attorneys and Intake Staff. She has been with CCSLS for over a decade and especially enjoys housing work that keeps seniors housed and prevents the risk of homelessness.

Camarin Madigan

Camarin Madigan

Board President

Camarin Madigan is the current President of the Board. Camarin is a partner at Perkins Coie LLP in San Francisco where she focuses her practice on real estate law, with additional experience in land use, natural resources, energy and environmental law. Camarin graduated from Grinnell College with honors and earned a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Deborah Levy

Vice President

Deborah Levy is the current Vice President of the Board. Debby is the CEO of The Congress of Neutrals, a nonprofit organization that provides mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Welfare from University of California Los Angeles, a Master’s degree in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University and a Law degree from John F. Kennedy University.

Stephanie Hayes

Secretary

Stephanie Hayes is Board Secretary. She retired after a career providing legal counsel to homeowner’s associations. In addition to serving on the CCSLS board, she volunteers as an attorney for our clinics. She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Steve Spafford

Treasurer

Steve Spafford is Board Treasurer. As a retired tax professional with extensive and varied experience in both public accounting and private industry, he is interested in using his financial background and experience to help make a difference to seniors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from UC Berkeley.

Matthew S. Toth

Board Member

Matthew S. Toth is currently a named partner at Pedder, Hesseltine, Walker & Toth, LLP in Lafayette. He enjoys his practice in the areas of contested estates, trusts, and wills, guardianships, and conservatorships. He graduated from John. F Kennedy University School of Law and received a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Hayward.

Bramson

Rob Bramson

Board Member

Robert M. Bramson is a partner in the Walnut Creek law firm, Bramson, Plutzik, Mahler & Birkhaeuser, LLP. His practice focuses on consumer law and consumer class action cases in California and throughout the United States. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Rob attended UC Berkeley and Berkeley Law School (Boalt Hall). Imbued with the “Berkeley Spirit,” he has long supported organizations providing legal services to underserved populations.

Graham Douds

Board Member

Graham Douds is Partner at Barr & Douds Attorneys in Danville practicing elder law litigation and specializing in business development for the firm. Practicing in areas of law that involve vulnerable older adults, he felt his skills could make at least a small, but helpful difference to our community by volunteering with CCSLS. Graham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor degree from University of San Francisco School of Law.

Eliot is a partner in Morrison Foerster’s Antitrust Litigation practice where he handles legal issues for clients around the world. He began his career as a Deputy District Attorney for Alameda County. Eliot has been a regular volunteer for CCSLS at our San Ramon Clinic. Eliot holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law.

Art Wolf

Art Wolf

Board Member

Art Wolf is happily retired following a career leading, developing, and advising nonprofit and public sector organizations, many serving seniors and their families. His fundraising leadership and counsel raised well over $100 million for operations, programs, and capital, endowment, and legacy gift campaigns. Art has served on several nonprofit boards and advisory councils, and was a volunteer Long-Term Care Ombudsman. He holds Master’s Degrees in Gerontology and Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Jeffrey Hamerling

Board Member Emeritus

Jeffrey Hamerling served as CCSLS’s Board President for several years. He has over 25 years of experience handling business and litigation matters involving franchise, marketing and distribution, and environmental issues. Jeffrey received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and his B.A. with honors from the University of California, Berkeley. He continues to provide periodic advice to CCSLS as Board President Emeritus.
